
In the absence of retainers there is high chance for the newly positioned teeth to revert back to its old position in time. This is reason why retainers are placed after braces treatment to ensure stability in future.
They can be easily cleaned with a regular tooth brush by brushing in a circular motion to remove food debris.

They are clear plastic pair of retainers which functions same as that of Hawley’s retainers. Also, these are durable, comfortable and aesthetically pleasing as they possess transparent cover.
These are permanently placed over the back side of the teeth. It consists of a metal wire that are cemented on the inside surface of teeth. Also, this can only by removed by dentist and cannot benremoved by will of the patient.
After the removal of braces, impressions are taken by the dentist to fabricate the device. Impressions are poured in greenstone or plaster to get replica of the mouth to fabricate wire and acrylic tray. Wire (stainless steel wire) is adapted over all 6 anterior teeth with a U loop in its end, also a clasp is placed on the molar tooth to ensure stability.
All these are further placed together and cured in acrylic.
